Tampere-Pirkkala Airport (IATA: TMP) , located in Pirkkala , 7 NM (13 km; 8.1 mi) south-west from the city of Tampere , is the third busiest airport and the second busiest international airport in Finland .

Tampere Airport was founded in 1936 in Harmala located some 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from the centre of Tampere.  The first terminal building was built in 1941.
